Storage Webcast: Smarter Data Storage through the Cloud
Thursday, Jun 30, 2016 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

Storage requirements are growing by leaps and bounds, and more organizations are turning to the cloud to manage the load. Thus far, it's mainly used for backup, data warehousing, development/test and archive. But, data managers and IT professionals are continuing to push the boundaries of cloud as a viable option for a range of data requirements.

Join us for a special webinar on June 30th to learn about the strategies and tactics that Oracle users are currently employing to not only manage data growth, but improve the speed of data delivery, protection, and integration. You'll get a firsthand look at the results of a brand new survey on data storage trends fielded amongst the members of the Independent Oracle Users Group, as well as best practices and key advancements in storage technologies.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn:
+ How to maximize your data storage capabilities using on-premises and cloud options together
+ How to manage data growth alongside performance considerations
+ How new backup and recovery solutions can help you overcome traditional limitations
+ How analytic management tools can help you gain better visibility into performance and availability issues
+ How to quickly scale to meet growing requirements through tiered storage, data compression and consolidation

Featured Speaker:
  • Joe McKendrick, DBTA Analyst and Contributing Editor

Storage Webcast: Smarter Data Storage through the Cloud
Tuesday, Jul 19, 2016 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT

It's Friday and users are calling again. You run an AWR report but you don't have access to sar, iostat or even vmstat. So, how do you diagnosis the situation resulting in a list of the best solutions? That is what Craig will demonstrate and teach you how to do in this webinar.
An AWR or Statspack report provides enough information to understand how the operating system is responding. These reports also contain Oracle timing details. When combining the Oracle analysis with the operating system analysis, we are led directly to the SQL that requires our attention.

What Craig will demonstrate and teach you is how to analyze the situation from three perspectives: Oracle, operating system and application. When combined, your best tuning solutions will be exposed!

Featured Speaker:
  • Craig A. Shallahamer, President & Founder, OraPub - Oracle ACE Director

Oracle Cloud Platform - Database as a Service Test Drive

EVENT DATE:  Wednesday July 27, 2016
                TIME:  9:00AM - 2:30PM
LOCATION: Oracle USA Inc., 120 Park Ave, New York, NY 10017

Oracle Cloud Platform is the industry's most complete Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution, offering database, application development, enterprise management and other services that accelerate application development and simplify IT operations.

Join us for a hands-on event to experience key aspects of database deployment, monitoring, migration and management in the cloud. This test drive is ideal for DBAs, application developers, IT managers and anyone involved in public cloud deployment.

The session will start with a discussion of DBaaS benefits and the architectural choices for building your enterprise cloud. Next, you will create a new database with Oracle Database Cloud Service and migrate an existing database to the cloud with Oracle Enterprise Manager. You will then experience how administrative tasks such as backup and recovery are simplified in a cloud environment.

NOTE: Participants should bring their own laptops to connect to the workshop environment. Laptops must be able to access the internet via Oracle Wi-Fi and be configurable for SSL/VPN (instructions and a test will be provided).

How to Do and Choose Your Best Performance Analysis Strategy
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT

Featured Speaker: Craig Shallahamer, OraPub

The phone rings. It's performance again, and users are not happy. What is your next move? What is your strategy to identify the issue, develop solutions, and communicate that to others? That's what this webinar is all about.

As Oracle DBAs, we have two fundamental performance analysis strategies: time-based and sample-based (ASH). Each strategy has strengths and weaknesses. Knowing these differences and how to exploit them gives you the edge in solving the puzzle.

In this webinar, you'll get a quick introduction of each strategy, highlighting how they work, their differences, and how to use them. This webinar will be 80% "how to" with live demonstrations (typing) and 20% pure knowledge (slides).
